Just came back from 8 days in Orlando, our first visit and was impressed. Everyone was so helpful.

We stayed at Portofino, did Universal, golfing at Grand Cypress, KSC, We were amazed by the ubside down building. I think I saw two in the Point area.

Can anyone tell me about it.

Also, I was impressed wiyh all the communities around Dr. Phillips. can someone tell me about the person who's name is all over this part of the city.

Loved Orlando, friendly people, lots to seee and do, and perfect weather as the islands , are too hot.

I'm glad you enjoyed Orlando! My favorite district is Dr. Phillips.

The area of Dr. Phillips is named after Dr. Phillip Phillips, a Central Florida citrus magnate. He was responsible for several key innovations in the processing and packaging of orange juice. He owned thousands of acres of groves, stretching across nine Central Florida counties and extending from Conroy Road on the north to the south end of the Sand Lake Chain, encompassing all of what is now Bay Hill, Orange Tree, Sand Lake Hills and Turkey Lake Park.

The two buildings you are thinking of are WonderWorks, which is the upside down one, and Ripley's Believe It or Not, which looks like half of it is sinking into the ground.

Thanks PeteC ... they looked new and amazing. Loved the upside down tree. So they are entertainment sites, then.

I don't know what the point area is, but the Wonder Works is a building full of silly, cheap stuff. "Lie on the bed of nails!" kind of stuff. Some kids love it, some hate it.

If you're stuck for something to do on a rainy vacation day, it isn't terrible (but it is crowded.)

You can google Dr. Philips.

I think she's referring to Pointe Orlando, which is the name of the shopping center right beside WonderWorks. (Four Points is the name of a hotel on N. I-Drive).

I thought WonderWorks was fun when I went a few years ago. It is pretty goofy, but it makes for an interesting day. I have yet to go to Ripley's Believe-It or Not; although it is on my to-do list of kitschy tourist traps. I just hope it's not too gross!
