Do police officers in Florida receive pensions when they retire? I've been on several PD websites and I haven't seen anything about it.

Very specific to the department you work for. I know that Orlando cops do and I'm fairly certain most other agency do also but have heard that many smaller departments do not offer it.

Is it safe to assume that they are part of the Florida Retirement System?

If so, visit myfrs.com for more information.

OCSO Orange Co Sheriff's Office is under the Florida Retirement System
OPD-Orlando Police Department has their own retirement system.

Not sure of the other counties and cities

Florida police officers have very few rights like their counterparts in NY, NJ, CT...etc. Be careful where you apply in Florida. The best I have seen are in Ft lauderdale, Boca Raton, and Palm Beach Sheriff Dept.
