Check the financials of the company before you sign on the dotted line. A recent news report offered some pretty staggering statistics that showed that well over half the carriers currently writing homeowners in Florida are under reserved and/or not reinsured and couldn't remain solvent if claims reached the catastrophic proportions they did in 2004.
