And not because we used a lot of water, the lowest price for sewer was 101 dollar every 2 months. Small community with more vacation rentals than all year round rentals and home owners - that's what the lady at city hall told me. So, living at the coast isn't much cheaper. If you find a cheap rental, you have to realize grocery, gas (for cars) etc. are generally higher at the coast, because of less competition. CenturyLink for TV you don't get everywhere either, so you are stuck with Directv, and with heavy rain/thunderstorms and storms in general at the coast, the reception can be flawed quite a bit. Winter storms are normal at the coast.
Most people believe there is a lot of water on the coast, but they are wrong. The high price is because adequate drinking water is scarce on many parts of the Oregon Coast. And the fragile nature of the coastal ecosystem makes disposal of sewage a challenge. Costs run high and the systems barely keep up with the current population levels.

I am sorry but I thought we were talking about Utility cost.

You could find a slum apartment for $400 to $500. But the Utilities would be half that again or more. Also I was referring to the coast.

Thanks steve, that's what I was afraid of. I'm starting to like Hawk J's comment more.

It may seem like a good thing even as off topic as it is, but camping as a residence is not what you may think it is. For one, where it is legal there are no jobs.

You would be better off in a slum flat in Portland unless you don't need to work to survive.

I have camped as a residence and I'm quite experienced in bushcraft, but yeah it sounds like it might be a lower class flat at least temporarily. I'll just wait and see I guess.

Well good luck at whatever you do but avoid coming here if you do not have a job first.
