.
.... Just a few of the four or five dozen images captured in the past few days, Road 39 between east of Halfway & east of Joseph.
As karlsch has previously & aptly shared: From a corner of the state that most Oregonians have yet to experience...
.

.... Such a vibrant day! Clear, clean water with fine pines & sap flowing back into branches down low.

.

.... Almost made a digital recording of the "white noise" from the waters here but was reluctant right then to dig out my digital recording equipment.

.

.... Peeking in at Sunlight filtering in through the pines & ridge.

.

.... Aw, one more. Richland, Oregon (far right of image) from 4 days ago as Sun was sinking low in the west...

..

From the mystery (for many) part of Oregon:

For a few weeks after the spring rains, one of the greenest places in Oregon is Baker Valley. Since it is in normally semi-arid Northeast Oregon, this surprises many people.

Baker Valley is surrounded by mountains and steep hills. When the last ice age ended, water from the huge melting glaciers flowed into the valley for many years, depositing rocks and soil. This created the very flat valley floor you see today. It became a large grassland.

After many miles, up and down hills, through sagebrush, it was a welcome sight for the pioneers on the Oregon Trail.

It was easy going for a while and there was grass to feed their animals and water in the streams for people and animals alike.

Now is is a ranching and farming area. After the spring rains end, much of it is kept green by irrigation – although it gets a little brown around the edges.

But, at least for now, it is vivid green everywhere:

The historic Stone Shelter at Cape Perpetua on the Oregon Coast.

Many have seen it from the hiking path, but these are the bird's-eye views from the ocean side.

Best to watch the video in H.D. on the YouTube Web site:

Drove over (and up) to the Hells Canyon Overlook last week to take some pictures.

A beautiful drive in the spring. Especially the final stint on FS highway 39--rushing water and wild flowers all along the way.

I just thought it was kinda a cool pic, and showed some nice greenery that is around here in Coos Bay. Not only beautiful beaches, but incredible country roads like this too....
Love the scenery. A really cool shot for a 7 yr old.

Turtle Cove in the John Day River Basin in Central Oregon. Given this original name because of the many fossil remains of Miocene era turtles found there, it is now more often called “Blue Basin.”
360 interactive panorama: https://kuula.co/post/7PMlZ

The blue-green color is attributed to a mineral called celadonite, which formed when water moved through volcanic ash 28-30 million years ago.

For tens of millions of years, volcanoes spewed out material that covered this part of Oregon. If you move around the picture you can see how the successive layers of this material caused the banded appearance of the hills.
