Belatedly, just read the Cerro Gordo link and that is
probably the same enterprise, different name than
it was in 1967. Plus, the word Ecovillage has been
added for this contemporary time.

It is on Dorena Lake which was the same location.
Still sounds good to me.

There isn't much in Dorena. I drove through a couple of times last summer as we were gold mining. The Gas Station/store in the town pretty much serves as a rest stop for those going up into the Bohemia Mining District, and on Dorena Lake. There are about a dozen cabins along the road, 4 of them were uninhabited and unlivable. There is a bit of a residential area and a fairly large campground right in town.

I remember a church also, but no schools. There are also three covered bridges in the area, Moderator cut: please do not advertise your blog

You aren't going to find a place smaller than Ashland with sufficient creative liveliness, lots of things to do, alternative/green/schooling/building lifestyles etc. You won't find a better place than Bend for outdoorsy stuff.

That's my Northern California perspective.
