Another picture from a few months ago as well, this one from Tustin. Those are the blimp hangars that were used during WWII. The one on the right will not be demolished when the site is redeveloped. It will be surrounded by a really nice park.

The one on the left will be demolished unfortunately.

Yes, another cheesy beach picture, but that is where I spend a lot of my time. Another one from my hometown of Huntington Beach. This is on the edge of the pier just when the marine layer is being burned off.

This is the ONLY thing that has been developed in the big flop that is Orange County's "Great Park." We have an Orange balloon that goes up 400 ft.

All the following pictures are from the redevelopment of MCAS Tustin. If you are not familiar with that area, the old air base there is being redeveloped and currently, there has only been a small area to on the northwest and southeast that have been developed. Here are some of my pictures that I took while visiting the site. The residential area is called "Columbus Square" and its architecture is a nod to early America.

There is a variety of lots but this sign shows some types:

Single Detached Homes:

Here are some of the attached townhomes. I love these, they look amazing! :

And to the southeast is "The District" a large shopping center. Here is the Target:

Enjoy!

I just moved here from the East and I must say.. WOW! Orange County is sooooo beautiful and the weather... AMAZING! I don't think there's anywhere else in the world that has better weather. I also love that this city is a combination of chic downtown, quiet suburbia, and... something else that I can't quite put my finger on. But I must say, it's a beautiful place to live. I moved to Fountain Valley, btw.

Your pic doesn't do them justice. They look gigantic in person when you stop at the red light at Valencia Ave. The first time I saw them I had no idea what they are and said to myself WTF. I thought they were some crazy looking churches or temples. However, I think they look a bit creepy in their current state. They look like abandoned warehouses and need a wash on the outside.

Definitely do not to them justice. Those are immense structures, when seen in person.

I work about one mile south of those things.

Here's an aerial (you can zoom in and out too) of them in 1946:

NETR Online • Historic Aerials

This public domain photo was taken in 1965, view is looking to the east. Irvine is just past the hangers. You can see El Toro MCAS way off in the distance. The bridge is Warner over Newport or the 55. The road running left and right in the middle of the photo Red Hill.

I don't see too many similarly colored beige homes in the background.
