Give yourself at least an hour. You can do it in 45 mins - the extra 15 min is for minor traffic delays.

Took my brother anywhere from 45min to 90min from Brea. Worse at night on the way back. You might want to look into using Metrolink

Depending on how far "deep" into Irvine, it's not too bad.

Getting on the 5 is easy from La Mirada and traffic isn't too bad on the 5.

I'd say around 45min-1hr.

bhcompy is right though it will be worse on the way back.

The suggestion to take Metrolink might work, as there's the Norwalk station right there, but I've never looked in to going that direction.

Also there's no getting around it. I guess you could try the 91 to the 55, or Valley View to the 405. But I don't think those are actually viable.

Lastly Brea is a bit different. Yes it's closer to Irvine than La Mirada is, but the 57 is ridiculous when CSUF is in session. I can see the traffic there evening things out.

All the way to Lakeforest, in the morning, should I avoid getting on 5 from beach Blvd? Drive further down before get on 5?

How about 57 northbound at night?
