From the 405 S in Costa Mesa around South Coast drive, all the way down past Irvine and then exit Bake pkwy (right after Irvine Spectrum). Keep in mind that the driver does not drive 80mph but more like 60.... With rush hour would it take more than an hour? I haven't driven the 405 in the morning for a long time so I'm not sure how bad it is but I do know it is BAD. How long? Thanks

At 7 it's probably not all that bad. I'm driving that way at around 8-830 and its not terrible. Probably add 20-30% of the regular time, but then again I'm not going all the way to the Y

At 7am? That wouldn't take more than 10 minutes.

So if I need to be there at 8 am, what's the best time for me to leave? I don't want to be TOO early. What time is it the worst?? Remember I drive 60-65 mph...

Also, how can it take 10 minutes? Mapquest says that route is around 20 minutes??

Total Travel Estimate: 19 minutes / 14.70 miles

Maybe it would take you a "little" longer than 10 minutes.

Well I used to live in Irvine and from Jamboree to Bake, I could get there in 10 minutes or so, not driving reckless, but I do drive aggressively.

So I figure maybe 2-3 more minutes from South Coast Drive? Mapquest assumes you're driving 65mph, which would put you in the granny lane down here in SoCal.

From the Harbor Exit to Jamboree takes me a lot longer than 2-3 minutes even without traffic... I am guessing 5 minutes at least? I don't know for sure since I haven't timed myself. That's what I'm guessing.

Can you tell me what times are the WORST on the 405 S in the morning for traffic? So I know when to avoid it?

So if I leave at 7:20 instead, would I still get there in time at 8am?

I'd say it starts to get slow around 7:30am, and then gets really slow for about an hour after that. Around 9-10am, it's not so bad anymore.

If you leave at 7:20, you'd get to Bake with time to spare. Easy.
