I've been to Mall of America at least three times. I was just at the Westroads. I don't know how anyone can compare those two.

It takes me 4 hours just 2 walk the hallways at Mall of America and I can walk through the Westroads and see everything there is to see in 30 mins.

I don't know if it's amazing... It's the least ghetto of Omaha's malls. I don't think I've seen any burnt out 80's GM full size cars with tinted windows with 22" rims at Westroads. So it's got that going for it!

westroads mall has the cheapest movie theatre and one of two I go to: (other is aksarben cinema)

5 dollars is a lot of times to see a movie at the rave 14 at westroads

plus it has the D-BOX option for some of it's movies

great escape 16 (which charges at least 7.25 to upwards of over 10 dollars at times) is almost a empty lot compared to the rave theatre at westroads

I love westroads and prefer it over Oakview. I do not think it is large by any means nor does it have super upscale stores either, which is probably why we like it...however at last visits I am seeing a lot of empty store fronts and food court so I am a bit nervous. Seems like everything in Omaha is trending towards outward malls.

DO NOT understand what the big deal is about 'outdoor' malls. I'm sorry, if I want to go to the mall, which means I'm generally going to go to more than one store, I don't want to have to brave the elements (whether it be heat, cold, snow, wind, rain, whatever) just to get into another store. That seems like it's somewhat defeating the purpose of a mall. The only people outdoor malls seem to be benefiting are the actual business owners and people building the things, I can't see how in any way it benefits the shoppers.

To me, indoor malls are stuff and closed in. I like being able to get some fresh air even if it is cold or hot.

The reason outdoor malls are becoming popular, in my opinion at least, is that people who fled the inner cities to the suburbs still want an "urban" experience now and again. Stores right on a street create a very different feel from a giant indoor structure. Even if it is faux urbanism it is still slightly reminiscent of shopping "downtown."

Makes you wonder why they just don't move east to get that experience more often .

Hmm, I like that. I think you've figured it out!
