Ate at the TGI Friday's yesterday in the westroads mall. The waitress said they all got a notice on Friday (Ironic, as that is not a TGIF moment) that they would be going out of business on Sunday night. It was very busy in the restaurant and the food was good. Probably rent it too high. Any ideas why?

it is right next to the rave movie theatre. (great movie theatre btw)

not surprised though. ever since Cheesecake Factory and Granite City came in a few years back, TGI has lost business.

I went to TGIF once, it was ok, but wasn't great enough for me to rush back. .

At Granite City the waitress ignored us because she was taking care of a 10+ party table at the same time. We complained and got a free desert, which sucked. We left disappointed.

Only been to the Omaha Cheesecake Factory once for a slice of Red Velvet which was amazing. Actually ate their food in KC and it was good, huge selection.

Saw Red there on opening day, was the first time we went to Rave. It was pretty good. I like the digital projectors and the sound system they run there and the seats are nice. Plus if you get a large drink you get free refills, which is nice. Although this excludes Icees. . We are going to see a movie this week, but I'm not sure if we want to hit the Rave again or possibly check out the Marcus Midtown one...

There's 2 possible scenarios for a busy restaurant to close on short notice:

1. State health inspector came in and found repeated major violations and pulled the plug. With this scenario possible, I wouldn't want to eat there if there was any major health violations.

2. Tax evasion. I've seen this happen before with Golden Corral in Kearney. One minute they were there, the next minute the place is all boarded up.

I'm not a fan of T.G.I Friday's because I think their food is too greasy and over the top. They once had a burger on their menu which was loaded with cheese, and had a breaded, fried cheese patty on top of the burger and it came with a cup of cheese sauce to dip your burger in.

Default Info

The waitress said the manager had not been paying the bills and they could reopen with a new management team if the owner wanted to, but was probably not going to do that. I agree with the over the top extras, like the dipping sauce. Anyways, RIP TGIF. Hope they can replace that empty space as I really like the westroads mall and want it to be successful and not full of empty areas. I went into a mall in Enid Oklahoma once and actually heard crickets as the place was so empty and the crickets invaded and took over the mall.

You mean like Crossroads?

I think I ate there once years ago. I hope they find someone else to move in quickly, I'd hate to see empty areas in that mall for too long.
