This is silly.. Why do we have to have the tax payers pay for a recall petition that fails every time a mayor is elected?

Tired of dumb politics.

I say we start a 'recall the mayor' fund. As we all know the next mayor WILL have a recall attempted. In fact if this effort is succesfull, I bet anything that the newly elected mayor will at least have some people threatening to start another recall. As someone on ketv's forums said, it is an Omaha passtime activity.

Yep. I'm pretty sure we've had attempted recalls on just about every mayor we've ever had. Mike Boyle was the only one that was a victim of a successful recall though.

I wonder how many signatures they have so far?

I was thinking that they were going to have a terrible time, but it seems like they are hanging out in restaurants and entertainment places where people are the most upset about the entertainment tax.

That's where I'd be if I was trying to get signatures.

About $1 million will be wasted if the petition drive is successful. And its not like you're guaranteed anything better anyway.

I'm so tired of the jackballs immediately running to the recall option when things don't go their way. Guess what? Your side lost the freaking election. Things aren't going to go your way.

I'm not a big fan of the mayor's but if you don't like him then elect someone else in the next term. Recalls are in place to remove things for egregious acts, not simply for following policy that we all knew they would enact in the first place.

Think of how many potholes could be fixed for $1 million.

I may not think he's doing a great job but I don't think it's worth spending so much money. He hasn't done anything illegal or horrible to justify this, just raised taxes.

You elect a Democrat into office what do you expect them to do? They are going to raise taxes. Then everyone acts all surprised.

A thought just occurred to me....this is stimulus!! There are goods and services being paid for, and people get paid salaries for this. Isn't that something a democrat would consider a good thing?

He's made a series of strange moves and had some interesting scandals. I think it was a week into his term, and didn't his chief of staff get busted for an encounter in the park? Then, he leased an SUV for about twice what he could have bought it for...then the fire dept/police negotiation, his bike czar hiring....etc...etc....

The restaurant tax is just the final straw, in my mind. But the word "recall" was first mentioned I think within 2 weeks of his taking office.
