Actually, I DO like a steel guitar depending on the tune
and the player....

I heard a guy on a steel guitar playing Purple Haze
along with a few other dudes at a jam back when I lived in MA.
That was pretty cool...

AND.. There's this brother I saw on DVD who
did some REALLY cool things on the pedal steel.
Wish I could remember his name...

I like country music. I couldn't stand it when I was a kid, but over the years I've come to appreciate the purity of the original country stars; not most of the stuff they put out today, although there are some mighty fine artists. I like Clint Black and Dwight Yoakum, but also Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash (who couldn't like Johnny Cash). Country music isn't all about trucks and stuff. Pure country music is mostly love songs and songs about the west and of course, the country way of life.
Of course, I love rock 'n roll and that's what I prefer to play, but don't count Country Music out; some of it is priceless.

Have you ever seen the movie, "Pure Country" with "George Straight"?

Country music is mostly story telling.

Ooops!
Forgot Santana!
(And a LOT of others now that I think about it...)

If it makes you feel any better, I saw
Molly Hatchet, Marshall Tucker and Charlie Daniels
at the Volunteer Jam in MA circa 1992.

Default Gabba gabba HeY!

Way back in the day, we lived, breathed and totally immersed ourselves in music. I grew up in Los Angeles, and we had a lot of garage bands back in the mid 70's long before grunge came about.

Los Angeles was the place to be for up and coming bands, almost like NY was for Broadway. I saw a lot of underground post punk bands live. Ramones was one of my favorites.

I was never raised around country except what my father listened to... Hank Williams. Which always brings back memories. Personally, I'm not into the new "hot new country" sound.

When I went to college in Lawrence, KS, I took up the keyboards. Lawrence, KS has a great live music scene. I love the blues.

The Who's Quadrophenia is a masterpiece in my opinion.

Oh yeah, I saw Carlos Santana three times. Once at Cal Jam II with approximately 280,000 people. Carlos has always been a great live performer.
