It was surprising for me too. There are atheists everywhere in the city. I feel bad for the one Christian working at my store with 17 atheists by her side.

I feel like their conservative atheist's, they don't care about religion but they care about what they only think.

I found it quite easy to find people who don't have an unhealthy obsession with ancient Middle Eastern superstitions in Columbus myself. Can't speak to Cincinnati.

Now between the two Cincinnati is definitely the one to be in if you want to experience a city making strides in urban revitalization. Columbus is very much about playing it safe and sticking to High St with very few exceptions. These before and after pics of a block in Over-the-Rhine comparing 2009 to 2012 have no equal anywhere in Columbus: a full and seriously run down block totally turned around in just three years. In Olde Towne East they've had 30 years and what intact blocks on Main exist still look like the 2009 before pics (worse, actually): none resemble the 2012 after pics. That, and Cincinnati is investing in rail transit, but in Columbus they're still talking about it, as is par for the course. The difference between talk and action is very apparent between the two cities.

having lived in both cities i find that "playing safe" is probably going to end up in greater prosperity and in the long run more spectacular development, and i agree that otr and much of cincinnati could become a little san francisco if the leaders are responsible and make the right decisions, but cincy could also become another detroit if the current council is reelected.

That's just ridiculous. The current council is responsible for supporting current development in Cincinnati.

All we need is less progressive leadership, then San Francisco might result!

I know, right? Let's put obstructionists such as John Cranley in charge and see how the progress goes. What a nightmare that would be.

Keith's right, nothing going on in urban Columbus aside from High Street.

Downtown Columbus has an upturn | The Columbus Dispatch

This is just for the past 18 months or so, and I didn't mention a single project for High Street, let alone 1/10th of the smaller developments and new businesses. Keith believes that a single block of revitalized buildings in Cincinnati has massive implications on the state of Columbus' urban development. OTR's revitalization is great, but that kind of belief is a joke.
