If you're vaccinated and have an N-95 mask, this literally is the opportunity of a lifetime for many Ohioans or other football fans. TBDBITL is worth the price of admission IMO. Ohio State's gridiron rituals are second to none, and may be the best rituals in the U.S. (better than the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace by a wide margin).

Just for clarity, you do not need vaccination proof, nor a negative test to attend the game, and masks are only needed in rest rooms essentially. I don't think there is anything suggesting it needs to be a n95 either.

Thanks for the elaboration. Here's another article.

https://fox8.com/news/ohio-state-rei...otball-season/

N-95 masks are a personal preference as I take every opportunity possible to lower the chances of a Delta infection. I've recently been able to purchase 3M "Aura" N-95 masks at Home Depot for $20 for a box of 10. They are excellent IMO with a good foam strip/nose band that eliminates foggy glasses and air leakage/intake around the nose and eyes, and they also have a chin cup.

https://www.homedepot.com/p/3M-Aura-...0-DC/316909322

I would wear my N-95 mask inside Ohio Stadium as I'm certain there will be more than sufficient fan noise without my participation! However, having been to several games at Ohio Stadium, I'll enjoy the game from home with instant replay whenever my heart desires to contemplate the action, which is quite often.

At the 3:45 minute mark here, former FDA commissioner Dr. Scott Gottlieb compares the effectiveness of cloth, procedural and N-95 masks against Delta variant transmission. My memory is that an N-95 mask is five times more efficient in reducing transmission compared with a cloth mask, and over twice as good as a procedural mask.

Default Attending outdoor football game "gray area" of COVID risk

<<It's part of what some researchers are calling a frustrating "gray area" more than a year and a half into the pandemic. There is no simple answer to just how much risk there is to a mass gathering like an outdoor college football game. A variety of factors play into the risk level: local infection rates, whether a stadium requires vaccination or a proof of a negative test and even what people do before and after the game.>>

As a relatively new Ohion, I still find Ohio State's marching band to be pretty unique and amazing! We don't have anything like this back East.

I've yet to watch the Buckeyes play, but since we've decided to stay in Ohio for at least the foreseeable future, a Buckeyes game is on my shortlist of things to do.

Yes. We are in a grey area in terms of the pandemic. I will continue to avoid mass gatherings until more people are vaccinated. I have asthma and allergies, and I just do not want to take any chances, tempting as they may be.

For persons concerned about a COVID infection and healthcare, it's hard to consider moving to Florida with a governor and controlling political party that effectively promotes COVID transmission. Especially as the health care system is overwhelmed and medical professionals discouraged and depressed. Even routine medical care, let alone needed emergency care, is being compromised.

Long COVID sequelae, which may be permanent health deficiencies, should encourage anybody to avoid a COVID infection. Even the Biden administration fails to emphasize this danger and warn persons about the risks of a COVID infection, even if mild or asymptomatic.

If we ever reestablish stringent public health measures including mass testing, contact tracing and mandatory quarantines to eventually control COVID, as is used in many nations, including Australia and New Zealand, tens of millions of Americans who survive the epidemic may be left permanently impaired.

More and more research quantifies the risks of COVID infections, especially more severe infections even IF individuals survive.

<<Research suggests that 50 to 80 percent of people who recover from COVID-19 experience at least some lingering after-effects 3 months after infection with the coronavirus.

Prolonged symptom duration and disability are common in adults hospitalized with a severe form of COVID-19.

Patient interviews show that while 65 percent of people who had been released from the hospital after being treated for a severe form of COVID-19 had returned to full health, 35 percent still had not fully recovered more than 2 weeks after being hospitalized.>>

Just one new study:

<<Now, a large study suggests that kidney issues can last for months after patients recover from the initial infection, and may lead to a serious lifelong reduction of kidney function in some patients.

The study, published Wednesday in the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, found that the sicker Covid patients were initially, the more likely they were to experience lingering kidney damage. But even people with less severe initial infections could be vulnerable....

Between one and six months after becoming infected, Covid survivors were about 35 percent more likely than non-Covid patients to have kidney damage or substantial declines in kidney function, said Dr. Ziyad Al-Aly, chief of the research and development service at the V.A. St. Louis Health Care System and senior author of the study.>>

So I share your concerns about mass gatherings, even outdoors at sporting events. Once I have a third dose, which may confer life-long immunity protection against existing COVID variants, I will reassess the situation.

I love the Ohio State Marching Band. Marching bands in general are really big in Ohio in high schools. Something I didn't realize we did so well until I lived in Massachusetts.
