Can anyone tell me if tourists are able to enter Schofield Barracks these days? My husband and I will be on a cruise in October with a stop in Honolulu and I would like to rent a car for the day and take a "sentimental journey" to Schofield where I lived for 3 1/2 years just prior to the WWII bombing of Hawaii. I would like to see if our old quarters are still there, visit Leilehua High School that I attended and the beaches in Waialua that were lived on by all of us army brats. With security as tight as it is these days I am wondering if access to Schofield is possible. Thanks for any info you can offer.

As far as I know guests are allowed on Schofield with very few problems. You must use Lyman Gate, show registration (your rental agreement should be fine) insurance and a drivers license to get a temporary pass to enter the Base. Have a lovely vacation.
