Yes I was awaken many nights and the air conditioner just couldn't cut that sound. And of course every summer they did some kind of work on the Borman.

You must admit that the Borman is much better now that it has been widened

Oh ok maybe they could employ some poor college kids to paint murals on those ugly brown walls
I remember those walls going up. Yes, they were a good thing when they came up.

Thanks for giving me the idea to make a separate thread of the Borman

Please discuss and comment below and add how this image problem can be changed.....
I just want to point out that this isn't a new problem in any way, shape, or form. I remember as a teenager in the 60's hearing negative comments and "oh you're from The Region". When I asked why they thought The Region was bad, the reply was gangsters! So it originally stemmed from people like Dillinger and Capone.

Of course the political graft and high crime rate has made the Region's image much worse over the decades since then.

With Chicago having such high crime, that stereotype for NWI is outdated. The Region is changing for the better and people are figuring it out.

Outside of Jersey, is it safe to say that NW Indiana is one of the most industrialized areas in the country? The steel mill and manufacturing presence is still HUGE. Nothing like it was in the 60's and 70's, but NW Indiana has to be near the top, image aside it's a very important area.

I agree with you for sure, but I wonder if the all of the Steel Industry Layoffs will start effecting those numbers. I sure hope there isn't such a swing in that we see anything close shop or downsize with manufacturing space going unused.

Also, finally glad to see the longest BP Plants Strike in its history has come to an end. I'd like to think the gas prices would slouch down again, but I'm sure the "summer blend" will keep it all just the same.

Try Don Quixote (Spanish (Spain) fare) in Valpo. Tates in Portage, Aurelio's pizza (take out) in Portage, the Brew place in the old Munster city hall, just to name a few.
