hi = I posted a few weeks ago and am looking for a little more info. Might be relocating to the area shortly from CT. Houses that are most appealing right now are in Round Hill and Lovettsville. We have driven through both towns but definitely don't know much about them having spent more time in Leesburg and Purcellville.

Any info would be great, in particular:
1. info on schools and the local atmosphere for kids - we have 7 yr old twins
2. any "bad" areas? are they safe? seem to be, but wanted to ask the locals :0
3. Internet access? when we last were interested in a house in Waterford, last fall, we were told it only had dial up internet access. Is this going to be a problem in these towns as well? My husband and I both work quite a bit from home and need high speed cable internet.
4. Any other pros and cons for these two locations.

My husband would be commuting to Herndon, but he can work from home 2-3 days per week and we are used to an hour one way commute here in Metro NYC. I will work from home, driving back up to CT about once every other month to visit family and clients. Price is driving our move to the Western edge of Loudoun, as opposed to closer in.

do search on it there was quite a discussion on both towns awhile ago.

I don't know aboput internet options... so definately search that out. (dial-up would be PITA!!)
I would lean toward probably DSL...but with big storms etc expect outages etc...

Not much to either town...you will have to head into either Purceville or Leesburg for the majority of shopping and dining. I really don't think round hill really even has a "town", mostly a suburb development.

Schools are good as the are all Loudoun county ISD and both towns feed into the same HS and I believe same middle school as well.

(Don't forget, Lovettsville's wonderful squared traffic circle.)

...The deal in Round Hill right now: 34928 SNICKERSVILLE TPKE, ROUND HILL, VA 20141. It's listed for $349,900. Looks like he paid $459,000 for it in 2004. -Ouch!- taxes are $5,215. But I guess that's the norm for Loudoun.

The towns are fairly similar. We liked them both and would have bought a house in either. We loved the Stoneleigh neighborhood in Round Hill but couldn't quite find the right house there so we ended up in Lovettsville on the Purcellville side.

We use this for high speed internet: Loudoun Wireless - Your Rural Broadband Internet Solution

Let me know where you land! You'll love it in either place. The fall is so beautiful in western Loudoun. So are the horses. And the people.

The coverage is definitely not as good as Vios, but it sure beats dial up.

Which town did you choose? Send me a PM if you'd prefer. I'm just anxious to know what you chose since I love the area.
