I got this polling idea from the Las Vegas forum and thought it would likewise be interesting here to see the geographical composition of newcomers to the area. Please, only vote in this thread if you are either living in NoVA or are planning to soon move to NoVA. P.S. Please no bickering over what category I used for what state as well, as I know some people get "touchy" over regions.

I'm a California native--Santa Barbara.

We've lived in many different locations as a military family.

I'm a life-long native of Northeastern Pennsylvania in the foothills of the Pocono Mountains, roughly two hours from either New York City or Philadelphia. I will soon be living in Reston.

Born in Texas, but Dad was a geologist for the federal government, so we moved around a lot when I was little. We settled in DC during my formative years, and it's the place that feels like home to me, so home it is. I went away to college in Texas then stuck around for a little while, met my husband, and got married. I was thrilled when my husband got a transfer back to DC. Texas has its good points, but ultimately it just isn't the place for me. Glad to be home!

Not sure which one to pick. Can you vote multiple times? Born in Ohio, lived in Chicago and DC for awhile, high school in Liberty City, FL (near Miami). Then lived all sorts of places: Houston, Denver, Berkeley, Los Angeles, Indiana, Asheville. Some of the moves were for adventure, some for job contracts. In my 30s I finally managed to go to college and my journey to a masters degree took me through several campuses over the years. Went back to Cleveland a few times, and lived in DC again for a long stretch during my 20s.

Probably the longest I lived anywhere before coming to NOVA was Redondo Beach, CA. We were there 22 years.

Wow! What an exciting life you've led! The furthest destinations I've been to are Cincinnati, Toronto, Bar Harbor, Maine, and Orlando! Needless to say I've been "itching" to get myself west of the mighty Mississippi. I have family in Huntington Beach, CA, so I could always just drop in on them unannounced! How did you like Chicago, Normie? I've always admired it from afar and might very well hope to live there someday (in addition to Pittsburgh!)

As far as which one to pick is concerned, you're really a tough cookie, but you're technically a "native" of Ohio.

Pittsburgh. I'm surprised there's no separate voting button as I think most of the folks there moved here when the mills shut down in the '80s. Go Steelers!
