I possibly have a job opening in Quantico I will take. My wife and I were trying to get to the Winchester/Berryville area, but I may be closer to DC than I really want.

Question is, if I'm working in Quantico...where do I want to be? I have a wife and two girls - 13 and 4. Schools are the utmost priority...next would be quaint/quiet neighborhoods where people can wave to their neighbor. Lastly, I have family in MD that I'd rather have a short drive to (Frederick).

Ideas please....

You'll basically want to look at Fredericksburg, VA. Anywhere North of quantico will be even more expencive. Fredericksburg is a great city, and has some good schools for the kids. It is about a 2 hour drive to Frederick, MD if you avoid rush hour's, and it'll only be a few exit's south on the highway for you. If you want to be really close to work, check out the areas around Garrisonville Rd in Stafford.

You might also want to check into Woodbridge (west of 95), or Montclair areas. A little farther North than Fredericksburg, but you'd be going opposite of rush hour, so it shouldn't be a bad drive. About 30 min. or so. I live in Lake Ridge, and it's very family friendly. I love it here, and I'm originally from upstate NY, so that should tell you something. As far as schools go, check out www.greatschools.net, you'll find all the info you need there. Good luck! By the way It's about 1 1/2 hours to Frederick from here.
