We are a diverse family, with 2 kids, one is biracial. We are interested in a small, quant town like Purcellville, but don't want our daughter to be the odd man out? Any thoughts? Some of the other postings spoke to Lovettsville being not as friendly..??

Also, I will be commuting to Herndon and my husband to Tysons to Navy Federal. he works 6am to 6pm though, so he may only have a hard time after work a few days a week. I can be somewhat flexible with what time I come in as long as I am in before 9.

Help peeps!

Purceville is nice and the NOVA are in general is diverse many bi-racial families etc...
Leesburg might be a bit more diverse than Purceville. We loved all the diversity our kids expirenced in the Leesburg schools. Leesburg elem is a great little elem school.

The only downside to the commute from there is the Toll Road and Dulles Greenway. It may be costing you a lot of cash in tolls to commute from those locations; unless your husband is a bike rider and can ride the W&OD Trail. Rt. 7 is out of question, so you might want to look elsewhere

I have to disagree. If your husband is traveling before 6am in the morning, the a.m. commute will be fine. Up until September, my husband commuted from Purcellville to Tysons on Rt. 7 every day--he also left before 6am and never had a problem. He only takes the toll road when he is in a hurry to get home--traffic is bad on all the roads leading away from the major cities during the evening rush hour--this is NoVa.
