If you do, what are the better options? Are there buses like Maryland's MTA? No Metro to Dulles (yet), so... is there a bus to downtown? One to a metro station (Vienna, I assume)?

Thanks in advance..

I used to do it and what I found to be quickest is to leave home at a little after 8:30 am and get on HOV right at 9:00 - i was usually at work at around 9:45. Then I left at 6:00 and going home was usually a breeze, about an hour.

Thanks for the reply - the problem for me is I don't have parking options (yet) on the Hill. Maybe in 5 years I'll get a spot...

So in the meantime, it's all about mass transit.
I'll keep researching methods to get to Capitol Hill from Northern VA, since there's no VRE/Metro from Reston/Sterling/Herndon

Depending on where you live, you have a few choices. You can take the bus from Reston Towne Center to the West Falls Church metro station and get to work via metro. You can drive to a Park n Ride lot in Herndon or Sterling and either take a bus to a metro station or take a commuter bus all the way into the city. You can even look into slugging in. You might want to check out the sticky thread on the top of the forum and find out which one works for you.

I live in Sterling and used to park at Herndon/Monroe by 7:30 am. Believe the lot is full by 7:45 am. Take the Fairfax Connector express bus to West Falls Church Metro. This was the easiet and cheapest way for me to commute to D.C.

I'll check the sticky at the top - didn't see that before my original post. As for the FFX Connector Bus - do you remember which number it is?

Isn't there a Loudoun County Bus? I know I used to see one at West Falls Church, and I'm pretty sure I saw info on stops in Sterling.

Edit: http://www.loudoun.gov/Default.aspx?tabid=785 (broken link)

There also used to be a Fairfax bus from Reston that went straight to the Pentagon. If you can find that one, that is probably your quickest route as you can take the yellow line right across the river to l'enfant. if you work on the house side, that is VERY convenient!
