I'm looking at some homes just north of I-66, just east of 267. The distance looks to be roughly 7-8 miles. I'm wondering how long it would take during typical morning and evening rush hours.

Also, does anyone know what that area of Falls Church is like? Is it safe? Family friendly?

I think it'll be right about 30 minutes from there mostly because of lights. That zip code area is nice. It includes Pimmit Hills which is an area ripe with builders tearing down tiny old homes to replace with million dollar properties - which can be good or bad depending how you feel about that. (The neighborhood feels a little like it is struggling for an identity because of that.) But it only continues to improve.

That entire area is a great place to buy as Tysons will only become more of a business center and it is close to a lot of great places to go out (Merrifield/Mosaic district, and Tysons itself.)

Waze says 12 minutes using 495 South. It's a reverse commute so traffic is light.

30 minutes no way....more like 10-15, 20 tops. If you are working 7a-7p you won't have to deal with much traffic either. Agreed that it is a very desirable area to live in though.

True - was thinking "the back way" and not the beltway. But yes - entrance to beltway is close on both sides so would be a pretty short commute.

Pimmit Hills is north of 66 and west (not east) of the Toll Road. The area of 22043 at issue here is not too different, except that it is somewhat more expensive and there is not as big a difference between the older and newer homes.

It is safe, family friendly, and a fairly easy commute to Inova.

If you can afford it, that is a very good area. The beauty of the commute is that you will have several options. Depending on exactly where the house is and how the traffic is that particular day you could hop on 66 to 495, take Idylwood to Gallows, take Haycock/Shreve/Lee Hwy to Gallows or a number of other combinations.

Thank you so much. I'm glad to hear the commute won't be too bad!

I used to live at the intersection of Haycock and Westmoreland, and I commuted to Willow Oaks Corporate Drive, just north of the hospital. Definitely Haycock/Shreve/Lee Hwy/Gallows would be less than 30 minutes.

Not only is that area family-friendly, but my house was in a good school pyramid (Haycock ES-Longfellow MS-McLean High).
