Anyone recommend a moving company. We are moving locally and are shopping around for a full service move. Let me know who you recommend. Thanks.

We used Two Marines Moving for our move out of Fairfax. All of the movers are veterans. They are very careful with your possessions. I recommend them.

Any idea if movers will disassemble furniture, move it to another place and assemble it?

I have a bedroom set (headboard, foot board,chest,dresser/mirror), dining table. Others won't require this.

I have used J&K Moving the last two times I moved. They are great! They show up ON TIME and are very good at wrapping up furniture and stuff. My last move was from a condo and my unit was close to the area where people move in and out of the building. I overheard many a conversation with people screaming on their cell phones at movers who:

1. Did not show up on time. (condo owners must reserve the freight elevator in 4 hour increments)
2. Not enough movers show up ( you are quoted a price for 3 movers for 3 hours and one does not show thus extending your hourly charges)
3. Truck not big enough. Some movers don't have their own trucks. They rent uHauls the day of the move.

We've used All Star Movers twice for local moves.
First move - one guy was not pulling his weight. I talked to the lead guy and he whipped him into shape, but the job took longer than originally expected (we worked it out - didn't get charged for the extra time because of the slacker). One couch had some grease on it and one piece of wood furniture was scuffed, but they sent someone to my house to fix at no extra charge to me. You can't tell anything happened to either piece of furniture.

Second move - great team, did it within the timeframe, no damage to any of our furniture.

Another vote for JK Moving. Great experience. If you do a search on the forum, I think you'll find a few other threads devoted to this topic with some additional information.

Another vote for JK Moving. Just a word of advice... my wife and I both contacted them (wife called directly and I filled out their online form) and I ended up with a cheaper rate.

I used Able movers a couple of months ago. It was a local move, a full house, went smoothly at a good price.
