I saw my first woolly bear of the season this morning. If you don't have a snow shovel, you might want to buy one because Woolly's predicting snow this winter. He has a stripe, so the good news is it won't be as bad as Snowmageddon--but that stripe was a skinny one so prepare for some snow.

(If you're new to the area, be sure to check out our local "weatherguy" the Woolly Bear in the thread below.)

I hope that the Woolly Bear is wrong...I don't feel like shoveling snow anytime soon. If we do get some, neighborhood kids will be making tons of money from us! My dogs will be happy though.

Well, if we do get another snowmaggedon, I'll have extra overnight supplies at the office just in case I have to sleep in again

Nooooooooooooo!

Dh had a job offer in southern California this summer, but we asked to stay here instead...even though I was really tempted to go back to CA for the weather. I was hoping this would be a mild winter to confirm we made the right choice!

Actually, in some ways the boonies are better than the city. In DC you tend to get more ice (side effect from so much concrete). Driving is easier out in the boonies where you just get snow, as long as the snow doesn't get too deep. Also, it's easier for the plows to find places to put the snow out in the boonies. In the city, plowing can become a challenge and the piles of snow sometimes get dumped on the sidewalk and become their own type of hazard.
