YES! I can't wait. I LOVE snow. I don't even mind shoveling it, I make it fun. Last time...well, 2 years ago this December, when the snowstorm dumped over 3 feet on us, I made a chair in the snow and sat in it. SO FUN.

I like living in the boonies. But then, I don't have to go anywhere. If I do decide to go out, my neighbors plow the lane (and the adjacent road, if the plow hasn't made it yet).
There's nothing better than being able to walk out in your yard when it's snowing and enjoy the quiet, without the traffic.

Snow doesnt bother us.

With a townhouse, theres relatively little shoveling - even during the worst of snowmaggedon, it was manageable. Plus there are so many folks out and about shoveling in proximity to each other, its like a party.

Unfortunately Fairfax does tend to dump the snow on the sidewalks when they have a lot of it. Fortunately LRT has a service lane, and you can CAREFULLY walk there. And from where we live you can EASILY walk to a Korean restaurant (that somehow stayed open during the worst of snowmaggedon) as well as a korean bakery/coffee shop, and a convenience store. If you are a bit hardier, you can make it to the shopping center with the safeway, or down the hill to the shopping center with the H Mart and the CVS.

My impression during last snowmaggedon was that folks I know in DC did pretty well at getting around. That the underground parts of metro opened up pretty quickly helped, IIRC. I'm also under the impression that DC (and Alex and Arlington?) at least try to clear the sidewalks, which Fairfax IIRC does not do.

I hope it stays in Northern Virginia, and doesn't come down to North Carolina where I'll be living. I'd love to say goodbye to snow and cold!

Just make sure that woolly bear doesn't get packed in your suitcase.

Ah - we're heading back to TX, so I'll likely be unpacking my shorts as soon as we get there. I will, however, REALLY miss the snow - still such a treat for this Texan
