Ziprealty allows you to search by school district or proximity to a specific point. YOU CAN ALSO ELIMINATE SHORTSALES.

I would agree. I often found new listings on Redfin before my agent did! The only thing is that you can't always tell a short sale from a regular sale.

Apologies for the cut-off explanations for the moderation...but basically, only non-sponsored MLS sites can be posted here. The OP can request info on sponsored MLS sites to be sent by Direct Message. Otherwise, that would be considered "free" advertising, which is against the Terms of Service.

Ahem. Well.

Mailmamon - One great thing about NoVA is that there are a wealth of real estate tools and information not normally found in the rest of the country. To find them I suggest searching blogs for Northern Virginia Real Estate and trying a couple of them out.

Speaking of listings, the condo across the hall from me has been empty and for sale since a month after I moved in. While it is nice to be the only person on this side on the 4th floor its a bit odd to me that the place is still for sale. They listed it really low (imo). I noticed it was under contract but then relisted at a lower price. And the scratcher I have never seen anyone look at it. Heres the zillow listing.. What is going on with it? I am sure it may be a short sale maybe there are having issues with the bank? Thanks! 5121 Travis Edward Way APT J, Centreville, VA 20120 MLS# fx7455848 - Zillow

It went back under contract again after the last price drop. Yes, it is a short sale. They often take a long time to settle.

I find redfin to be very up to date. It has information that your real estate agent may not see until the next day. However, realtors do not like to talk about redfin and they never suggest you use it even if you are under contract to use them. I do like zillow as well I find the zestimates to be kind of fun, everyone complains it is not accurate but you have to give them points for having a try at pricing houses on a broad scale.

Teebyrd - It's easy to do, but apparently it is a violation of terms of service for me to post it! DM me and I'll tell you how.
