Hello, If you live close to west falls church metro with young kids, what parks would you take them to play in summer and where would you take them if you want to sled in the winter?
What are the libraries close by which have good activities for kids like book clubs, science and other activity clubs?

thanks in advance!

Does it need to be a park you can walk to from the metro station?

We will be moving to close to west falls church metro and still exploring the area. I prefer walking to a park or a short drive to the park. A place where kids can play ball, run or play on swings and slides. Taking the metro to a park would be once in a while weekend activity if there are some accessible via metro. Thanks!

Best playground in the area is Clemyjontri on Georgetown Pike in McLean, about 15 minute drive from the West Falls Church Metro. Clemyjontri Park, Clemy Park, Fairfax County Park Authority It's huge, however, and it can be very difficult for one adult to supervise multiple kids there. There are some smaller nice playgrounds in the City of Falls Church, including one close to the Community Center and library.

There is a very nice, mostly shady playground on Harrison Street in Arlington. It's officially called Chestnut Hills, but we always called it "the Harrison Street park." Lots of digging/riding toys seem to live there for common use.

And here is a very comprehensive list of playgrounds in the general Arlington/Falls Church/Vienna area:

We live in the area and most of the time go to Clemyjontri, Lincoln Park (small but fenced) and the playground at Cherry Hill Park. There is a good sledding hill behind Lemon Road elementary on Idylwood Rd.

The closest libraries to WFC Metro are Tysons-Pimmit Regional Library (Fairfax County) and Mary Riley Styles Public Library (City of Falls Church).

Thanks for all the responses.

Claremarie, thanks for the list of fenced parks
buildinginva, thanks for the tip on Lemon road sledding slope. We will check it out when it snows next.

Regarding libraries, do the Fairfax county libraries have clubs for 7-9 year olds? When I checked out their events, I did not find any. We currently live in Ashburn and the Ashburn library has around 4 book clubs for that age group and a math and science club. There are also movies screened once in a while. Lots of events hapenning at the library. We love our library!!
Where can I find similar activities around falls church?
