I've just finalized my housing arrangements for the coming year, and my 9 and 6 year old children are going to be in Shrevewood Elementary. I'm on the waiting list for the SACC; but not sure how often the list turns over. I'm looking in the area for more choices, but Ensin Karate of NOVA and Merrifield Child Development Center are the only two that I know of. I'm looking for an after-school program that can assist in homework; not just keep the children busy. I'd like someplace that has before school care, while I need someplace that has after school care.

Summary: Looking for a before/after School program for elementary students

Needs:
1) Busing available from Shrevewood to the program.
2) After school care
3) 1st and 4th grader need to attend

Would like to have:
1) Before School care
2) Homework/schoolwork assistance

Would anyone have a good reference or two?

My kids are in Shrevewood. We ended up hiring an au pair. The SACC list DOES move, though. Within a month or two, we could have gotten am SACC, but we had hired an AP by then. Also, look on the county website re: in home child cares. Maybe you could find one of those. You might also check Craig's List or DC Urban Moms website.

How did you find your au pair? Private care is not out of the question, but I've never looked for that type of care and not sure where a good location to find a trustworthy candidate would be.

Thanks for the response!
