it's time to switch Peds as my current one is moving out of state. I am looking for one that is receptive to an alternative vaccination schedule--I don't want to defend my position on this at every visit, so any recommendations would be appreciated.

All the drug commercials on TV say "tell your doctor if......" so it sounds like they just do and believe whatever you tell them.

I would call the Birthcare midwives in Alexandria and ask for a list of their client-recommended pediatricians--you should be able to find someone in your area off their list. (The natural birthing crowd overlaps quite a bit with the vaccine-spacing crowd).

check dr. sears' website under alternative vaccination friendly doctors, that's how we found ours. No need to explain, NoVa has a high percentage of natural moms.

We see one in Ashburn but that would be a long drive for you. We found him through a midwife. Lots of crunchy moms here.

I know its not exactly NOVA but I'll be needing one of those too. Also, what are the laws (and how do you get around them) about school enrollment?

Seriously, how is this helpful? I don't recall asking about an outbreak of whooping cough in CA--guess you're in the wrong forum--I hope you got your TDaP vax, wouldn't want you to infect my kid! It's responses like these that made me reluctant to post my question in the first place.

Thank you to those who did answer my question. As for Dr. Sears, thanks for the suggestion but he doesn't list anyone in this area and Ashburn is way too far, I just moved from Loudoun County.

I don't know how she handles alternate vaccination plans, but try Dr. Shupe in Haymarket.

It wasn't directed at you - it was directed at another poster seeking to circumvent laws put in place to prevent outbreaks of life-threatening disease in public schools. If you don't vaccinate your kids that's your choice, but asking how to then enroll your kids in school without the proper vaccinations is putting lots of other kids' health at risk.
