There is a craze on youtube called hastily made (your city here) videos. These videos make fun of (or trash) a city with a humorous tune. For example;

Cleveland

YouTube - Hastily Made Cleveland Tourism Video: 2nd Attempt

Detroit

YouTube - Hastily made Detroit Tourism Video

So if one wanted to make one of NoVA what would you want on the video?

Great idea for a thread!

I don't know how you'd film some of these, but it would be fun to have:

-- a clip of someone getting lost on the GW Parkway and accidentally driving into the Pentagon.

-- A few McMansions of course, and maybe even a shot of Donald Trump losing his toupee on a windy day at his golf course?

-- Kayakers at Great Falls National Park being watched by people who are obviously out-of-shape?

--Something mocking the CIA, of course.

-- Gotta have some sort of HOA joke. I'll have to think for a bit on what would be funny.

-- Shoppers at Tysons wearing politically correct t-shirts like "I live simply so that others may simply live" Meanwhile, they are also carrying 3-4 bags from high end stores....

-- Bob Simon sitting next to the statue of him sitting on a park bench.

-- One of those strip malls in Falls Church where every store caters to a different ethnic group.

-- Some event at Reston Town Center where every other person is walking their dog.

-- A group of nerdy guys at a party discussing who has the most degrees.

--The Registered Historic Site sign at Lake Anne Plaza (while the background song notes "our historic sites were built in the 60s..."

Oh, and how about a clip of the Salahi's while the song notes "our small business owners crash parties at the white house..."

Something poking fun at the goldcup would be good, too.

YouTube - River City (Richmond, VA) (first video to come up when you google video or youtube "richmond va")
First, that was horrible. No offense to Richmond, those two guys suck.

Second, the idea of "hastily made" is to poke fun of negative things about your city.

For Northern Virginia shots of day laborers, traffic on 395 North in the Morning, high rent prices for crappy apartments, everyone walking around in frowns. See negative things but in a joking tune.

Too late, you've gotten my creative juices flowing!!!!

I actually think my list would make a pretty funny video. I've got a video camera, why not? Now I just have to write a tuneless song to go with it and see if I can figure out editing. I've never put anything on you-tube, but everyone else seems to be able to do it so why not? Mabe it's time gave it a try.

Just have to figure out how I can work Wegman's into it. There's got to be some funny angle about shopping at Weggies...

We already have an "Arlington Rap" and a "Fairfax Rap", both of which are pretty funny. I wanted to rally some friends together myself to do a "Reston Rap" and still just may do so. I'll probably set it to the background music of "Shiny Happy People" by R.E.M. since it seems like half the place is on anti-depressants as people live in denial of our horrible traffic and sky-high rent prices, walking their dogs at night around the town center while wearing knock-off designer sunglasses and texting with their Droids in front of the Apple Store.

I don't think anyone is in denial about our traffic! Walking around town center with a dog and a droid sounds like fun! And the sunglasses aren't knockoffs!
