Our older Mercedes was in the shop last week.
We are told some repair work needs to be done. We try to avoid the dealership because they are too expensive (plus too far away from Leesburg).

The right engine valve is leaking
Transmission is leaking
Spark plugs need to be replaced.

It is only 2001 model. Please recommend a repair place that can perform good service on Mercedes and isn't too far away from Leesburg at reasonable and fair prices.
Thank you.

While I have not used them personally, I have heard good things about Absolut Autoworks on Old Ox Road in Sterling. They service many different makes, however, from what I have been told, but do work on Mercedes.

If you want a Mercedes specialist, the nearest to you is going to be Silver Star Motors in Vienna, but would be well worth a trip, IMO. Since you know what needs to be done, I would call them and ask if they could give a rough estimate of price, so you could evaluate whether or not a trip to Vienna would be worthwhile.

I've had good luck with Curry's Auto, I usually go to the Gainesville location near my work, but they've got a location in Chantilly off of Rt 50. A friend of mine used to take his Audi to the Chantilly location all the time with good results (which is the reason I began using their Gainesville location when it opened near my office), and they're experienced with German cars; I think the shop builds and races BMWs for their race team.

They might be a tad more expensive than your average shop, but they've always been extremely honest and taken great care of my cars and me as a customer. Their work is top-notch and they'll back it up if something goes wrong.

I usually do all my own work on my cars, but have been too busy with work lately to keep on top of some of the larger tasks. They're one of the few shops I've met that I trust and don't mind going to.

Edit - here's a link, they're a part of many different german car clubs: http://www.currysauto.com/HighPerf/racing.htm

Silver Star Motors in Vienna is very good. The owner (Puter Fuchs) is German and a long time Mercedes Tech.

The work you describe sounds minor -- transmission seals, valve cover seal, new spark plugs (and possibly coils).

German Car Service in Sterling, VA (Pebble Run Drive off of Rt 606, north of Dulles Airport) and the owner Danny. Look for his web site and give him a call, you won't be disappointed.
