Since there has been some confusion recently, the NEPA sub-forum covers the following counties in Northeastern Pennsylvania:

Bradford County (Towanda/Wyalusing/Troy/Canton/Sayre)
Carbon County (Jim Thorpe/Lehighton)
Columbia County (Bloomsburg/Berwick/Benton/Catawissa)
Lackawanna County (Scranton/Carbondale/Clarks Summit)
Luzerne County (Wilkes-Barre/Hazleton/Back Mountain/Pittston)
Monroe County (Mt. Pocono/Tobyhanna/Stroudsburg)
Montour County (Danville)
Northumberland County (Shamokin/Sunbury/Mt. Carmel/Milton)
Pike County (Milford/Matamoras/Greentown)
Schuylkill County (Pottsville/Shenandoah/McAdoo/Tamaqua/Pine Grove)
Sullivan County (Eagles Mere/Laporte/Lopez/Dushore)
Susquehanna County (Montrose/New Milford/Forest City/Hallstead)
Wayne County (Honesdale/Hawley/Hamlin/Waymart/Gouldsboro)
Wyoming County (Tunkhannock/Lake Winola/Meshoppen)

SWB, is this list of counties/towns collectively considered "The Poconos"?

"The Poconos" encompasses all of Wayne, Pike, Monroe, and Carbon Conuties, as well as the southeastern portions of both Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties. This is just an overall view of "Northeastern PA," as is best defined by Answers.com. I think the westernmost boundaries of the Poconos would extend from Mt. Cobb in Lackawanna County on southward through the North Pocono School District, and then on through Bear Creek and White Haven in Luzerne County. It is shown on this map to also include Susquehanna County, but I would consider that county to be the "Endless Mountains" instead.

With that being said, it is indeed quite difficult to pinpoint a "region" for any particular town, as some towns claim their allegiance to more than one area. For example, I've heard people in Factoryville and Lake Winola, Wyoming County refer to themselves as the "Scranton Area" while those in nearby Tunkhannock claim to be the "Endless Mountains." I've heard people from the Bear Creek area call themselves both the "Wilkes-Barre Area" as well as the "Poconos." I've even heard some people reference Palmerton, in southern Carbon County, as being the "Lehigh Valley." I don't think it truly matters much; I was just hoping to try to put a cap on the Lehigh Valley Area newbies who were posting threads in this sub-forum, as they truly aren't receiving as much help here on this NEPA sub-forum as they would if they had posted on the General PA forum instead.

Hi, just moved to Archbald (10 miles northeast of scranton) from Central Jersey in 2005. still adjusting but am doing much better. My kids 6 and 8 are doing great with the school here, even though the school districts around here don't seem to be too serious about passing even the State standard. Love to participate in the forum.
