But where are the animals? According to the following article from the Pocono Record, they were NOT moved to the Millers' Pocono Lake facility.

An answer on the fate of the animals:

Why didn't Margaret Miller simply agree to transfer these animals to accredited sanctuaries? As far as I have been able to determine, the animals have not been transferred to the accredited sanctuaries that expressed a willingness to accept the animals. I am still trying to find out where the animals have been transferred.

Sounds to me like she gave them to all private individuals. I can't understand why she would do that, when well respected facilities have agreed to take some of the animals.

It looks as though, according to the news and Dr. Miller himself, that the disposition of the animals was more the decision of Dr. Miller. Especially since Margie Miller hasn't really been heard from since this whole situattion went down.
I still support Margie but am just as puzzled as everyone else regarding what happened to the animals.

The Times-Trib reports that the Genesis Wildlife Center's animals have been moved to 2 facilities, one in PA and another in Ohio. I don't know anything about the quality of either facility; if I find out more, I will post it here. I also do not know if the animals will be staying in these facilities permanently. For more on this, see:

The Times-Trib ran an editorial today, calling on the city to do an audit of the Genesis Wildlife Center. Here's an excerpt.

"The city government should be able to account not only for the disbursement of the operating funds to Genesis, but for how Genesis spent the money in the course of its operations. Yet there has been no such accounting. The Doherty administration and city council should see to an audit of the operation."

I don't know if anyone else has seen it, but a quick check of the GWC website reveals a 'farewell' letter. In closing, they state:
Quote:
We will be ok and taken care of so please don't worry.
- The Genesis Wildlife Staff
I wonder if by 'taken care of,' they mean that 187k of city funding and private donations goes a long way...

No one knows what happens to funds raised by a non-profit when the non-profit folds? Did Miller's decision to place the animals in local homes, as opposed to accredited sanctuaries, have something to do with this money? Would she have had to distribute it to these other facilities? Has it been confirmed that her sanctuary licence has been surrendered?
