Well, we just returned from a weekend in NEPA and made a few hopeful observations. Two new homes being built in Greentown, Greentown Grille getting ready to open, a new bakery opening in a long empty brick building on Rt. 507, the Crossings Outlet in Tannersville was quite crowded on Sunday. For anyone familiar with the area...we noticed many trees marked for removal along Saw Mill Road between Creek Road and Valley View Road on the right hand side traveling west. Any idea what could be going there? Seemed like way too many trees for one house, but it's not really an area for any type of storefront development.

Greentown is beautiful.....good for the grill. It was temporarily shut down correct??? I know of a few builders in the area & I hope they survive this economic downturn.

Where that grill is going has been a few different things over the years. Where's the bakery you saw, was it in the old Aurel's building? That would be nice.

Yes, the bakery "Cakes & Scones" is going into the old Aurel's building. I would hope it could do well there as there aren't any bakeries in the area. There's been a sign in the window of the grill "coming soon" for a while now. It looks like they're working on fixing up the inside. Anyone have a clue as to why trees are being taken down on Saw Mill Road?

Cakes and Scones is a bakery that currently is in business in Stroudsburg, but the owner is paying far too much for rent, so she is relocating the business here. They live nearby. They are very nice people and I hope they do OK.

Where is that in Greentown? We are always looking for new smaller places and like Sparky's in Newfoundland for breakfast.

Both business are near Dutch's on the opposite side of the road. There is also some construction going on at the old Dutch's building in Newfoundland (it was a furniture store recently). Someone told me that it is going to be a Dollar General, but I really don't know if that rumor is credible.

It would be nice to see something go into the old Dutch's...it's a large building. I know times are miserable right now, but I'm encouraged when I see anything new going on.

I live in Greentown, it is a nice town. I am not sure about saw mill road but maybe they are just cleaning up the woods. They take out a lot of trees to help the rest get stronger. They took down most of the old dutches. I too heard it will be a dollar general. We have a wonderful little library here too. A nice park for families. You can find just about everything you need right here. If anyone needs a builder here let me know.
