Unfortunately anywhere within an hour from TYAD is going to be “boring” unless you enjoy outdoor activities like fishing, hunting, hiking etc. After 40+ years living in “the valley” and being employed by TYAD for over 18 years, I decided to transfer to a location near the beach (because that is what I like). What I am trying to say working for Uncle Sam opens up opportunities to move where it might not be to boring for you. But if TYAD where you’re husband likes working, I would move either to the Abington, Dallas, or North Pocono area. And if you want excitement take day trips to NYC or Philadelphia.

The OP should look at Lake Naomi in Pocono Pines. It is only about six or seven miles from the Army Depot. It is a development and I do not know the fees; but I am sure they can find out. Our area is growing quickly and there are plenty of activities. It might be wise to see what the new property tax rates will be in January since we just had a reassessment and the new rates are supposed to be released in January. That development has not received many negative reviews. I also like my area in Swiftwater and have no complaints; but what is good for me might not be great for the next person.

With them coming originally from New Orleans, living in NEPA for a while, which has proven to be "boring" there may be more to this than we can contribute more to with what we know. IMO our suggestions are shooting in the dark.

There is more to this than meets the eye.

Wonderful! Great school! I think they'll really enjoy Oakland. It's truly an ideal big-city college neighborhood!
