Hello everyone,

Due to some awful school issues in our current area, we are seriously considering moving. My husband works at Tobyhanna, and would like to be within a 20-30 min commute-the closer the better. Also, a good high school for my daughter is great. I've heard North Pocono, Wallenpaupack, and Dunmore are great, however, I've been doing so much research that my head is spinning as to even their closeness to Tobyhanna at this point! Can anyone recommend a good, SAFE area in this vicinity. I know that Tobyhanna itself is horrible anymore. Thanks!

I think that I would head north or east of Tobyhanna. It is not too far to either the Pike, Wayne or Lackawanna County lines. The school taxes are more reasonable. The areas are a little more laid back and not as citified. You can easily research the school systems. The only major problem might be shopping - if you get too far out.

if your laying down roots I would say go 30 miles or so NORTH of Tobbyhanna ,(up rt 196 to rt 296 ) just past Hamlin corners .. at the blinking light bear left , ,, Its Western Wayne school district ,, Start looking for land there ,, Its Gods country , I live about 45 miles from Tobyhanna . I love it here ,,, (but my kids go to Wayne Highlands school district as my wife is a teacher there ) Its a nice area barley any crime , and its a 45 min ride to the Army Depot ( without icy conditions )

We're about 45 minutes away now, and my husband is really hoping to get a bit closer. The ride is starting to get to him. Adding the commute time to an already long day is leaving him exhausted, especially when there is required overtime.

He is currently on a van. He has to get up at 5 am now, and on overtime days, doesn't get home until almost 7:30. He's looking to cut down on the transit time as much as possible. However, I'm looking to stay as far away from Tobyhanna/Mt Pocono as possible!

Thanks...do you know if any of these have an actual downtown area? I remember driving through a small part of Moscow awhile back, and that section was very countryish.
