Has anyone been to Basilicos at the Inn at Nichols Village in Clarks
Summit. They took over the Firegrill last week -- ????

Are they open yet? I thought when I drove by a couple days ago, the banner said they would be opening soon but I could be wrong on that. Also, while as far as I know it is being run by the people behind Basilicos, it has a different name (Bazil, maybe?)

I was surprised to see Firegrill closing, but I'm hoping the new place can do something interesting with Italian food rather than just repeating the standard NEPA template for just about every Italian-American restaurant (lots of red sauce pasta, 10 different preps for chicken, the same 10 different preps for veal, etc...)

I went to the one in DC and if they expand on what they make there then it should be good.

You realize that this is NEPA where red sauce reigns king and the destruction of good food is common?

Realize it all too well...Holding out some hope since Basilico's tends to veer off the familiar path every now and then.

We do need good Italian restaurants around here. How's Calarusso's in Clarks Summit?? I hear it's good.

I agree with Dan's first post (will wonders never cease). Basilico's is not just any old pizza joint. Their dinners are fantastic, many are not in any sort of red sauce, the ingredients are quality, the produce is fresh, and the portions more than generous.

The Firegrill should open up opportunities menu-wise, and he'll probably be able to do things there that he couldn't pull off at the original location.

When you say "the one in DC", are you referring to Basilico's? I didn't know it was a chain. Do you know if the new place is some kind of chain as well or am I not reading your post correctly?

Thanks

It's not a chain. DC is Dickson City. Dickson City is where Basilico's started in the area, AFAIK.

What's wrong with red sauce? Pasta with a good red meat sauce is fine with me.
