When did Green Ridge ever have a bad name? And Minooka is bad now? I don't see it...Minooka is still pretty much the same. The only trouble I remember there recently is a baseball coach from Archbald getting into a fight with parents at a little league game and pulling a gun.

Thumbs down a little midnight walk through pinebrook

Funny you would say that as that is something I do at least a couple times month. I do have a strange affinity for street fighting a I always thought the pine brook area looked seedy enough to supply such action, so I have meandered those streets many a night over the last couple of years at hours between midnight and Three a.m. just begging to be jumped, to no avail. You would think it shouldn't be so hard a task, but I have never had a but of luck in that area.. Looks can definitely be deceiving.

Owens-Illinois; Schott Optical; Bazooka Bubblegum.....quickly come to my mind each with over 2,000 employees.

Also there were a few large beer breweries...Stegmaier and IF I remember correctly Genessee or Gibbons as well as a few smaller ones.

Default Yeah it's pretty bad and it's going to get a lot worse

A DEADLY CITY - Times Leader

It's really bad here... And it's not just the homicide rate. The people are horrible too, very ill mannered and rude, hostile, miserable, backward, ignorant and bigoted, especially the descendants of the coal crackers and local yokels. There is a strong history of xenophobia and hatred which is deeply embedded in the area's DNA. There are no jobs either, unless you are "politically connected" or related or buddies with the mayor. Nepotism is a tremendous problem in this area. The main sources of economic activity in the area are the casino and drug/human trafficking (heroin, prostitution). At one time, the coal mines were. Well, the coal mines of yesterday have been replaced by the meth labs of today. The police, the judges, the local government on all levels: nobody is doing their job, except lining up their own and their friend's pockets. The police are on an alliance with the criminal gangs and law abiding good people are their enemy. Property taxes are sky high and the county appraises real estate at 3 or 4 times the real value in order to fill their greedy coffers. There are potholes everywhere. An inordinate amount of gang activity is rising rapidly and drugs are epidemic here. Corruption is everywhere and you can't trust anybody as far as you can throw them. You can't walk the streets at night alone unarmed; I certainly wouldn't recommend it. Keep your doors locked and be extra careful, put it that way. Conscientious, law abiding, taxpaying people are moving out in droves. I don't blame 'em. If you want what's best for yourself and your family, move. This is not a good place to raise your children and make a family. It's a dilapidated ruin. I would NOT recommend living here to anyone at all.

I'm a descendant of coal miners and I am not rude, uneducated, ignorant, bigoted, backwards or any of the other adjectives you've used Jason. Neither are many of my friends and family. Maybe you are hanging out with the wrong crowd?

He failed to mention the miserable climate also, but most of the key points were addressed. Let's let him slide on the so called pizza.

Now that could start WW3.

As far as the homicide rate that is mostly people that either moved here from or are visiting from places like NYC. Who's to blame for that?
