Nice pics. I used to go to Promised Land all the time, I will have to try to get back there soon. Next time you go, try hiking Little Falls Trail. It has a few small waterfalls and is a pretty easy hike. It is one of my favorite trails! I also like the little self guided trail out on the island.

Take care,
Tina

Thanks so much for posting that - I love Promised Land and have been going there since I was a little kid! I need to get up there for a hike this fall too.

Great pics! I definitely have to check out Promised Land sometime. Also be sure to check out Ricketts Glen while you're in the area. It features a nice trail that runs alongside a series of waterfalls. The drive to Red Rock is well worth it.

Default Fond memories awakened!

Although I haven't been to a PA state park in many years, I have many fond memories of time spent in those fabulous environs. Ricketts Glenn is my favorite! My dad had a share in a vacation cabin with a few of his friends, located along a ( then ) gravel road just off 118 a few miles from the turn off to Ricketts Glen, so I visited there frequently. I spent many a summer afternoon on the sandy beach at Lake Jean, and frequently walked the trails along the waterfalls. What a fabulous spot. Even though I now spend my vacation time in the magnificent Rocky Mountains of Colorado, Ricketts Glenn holds a special place in my heart. Thanks SWB for reminding me what a fantastic place it is...and congratulations on your one millionth read!

blessings...Franco

Thanks very much, Franco, for the kind words! If you like Ricketts Glen, then you might want to stay tuned for an upcoming Fall photo tour of Lake Jean, Ganoga Lake, Lake Louise, the Falls Trail, and the surrounding areas. I'd like to do this as soon as possible, but the tour might be even more breathtaking when the leaves are at their peak. It truly is an undiscovered oasis that most in Luzerne County have probably never even been to!

We've been sure to visit Promised Land on our last two visits to NEPA. It's not far from our house and we just love it. It's immaculate, peaceful, beautiful scenery and on a 95 degree day, it was pleasant under a tree. Can't wait to explore more of it!
