It is not tomato weather. The one in the 5 gallon is doing better than the one in the one gallon pot. The peppers and basil are still in Solo cups, and the zinnia seeds haven't sprouted.

I was putting a pair of 1950's metal lawn chairs I restored over the winter under the Dogwod tree next to my nabes house...the Powerball winner...She came out and kiddingly said 'Great, you are providing seats for the Paparazzi'

She told me she stopped over on her way to the press conference at NJ lottery Comm. headquarters to let us know she was a 'winnah'last week, and to ask us to keep an eye on her place...we were at a funeral viewing that evening.

Best thing, she said was she has no intention of moving...she loves her home and the neighborhood and her large extended family is here..she plans some improvements and paying the place off...she paid top dollar for it before the real estate bust...

I am very happy she is not moving...
doing a Happy Dance.

I made Vietnamese Pho yesterday and today...the broth yesterday, all day affair with beef marrow bones etc.
Today we added mushrooms, bok choy, rice noodles, lime, ginger, thai basil, lemon grass, thin sliced hot peppers (on the side) scallions, beef Tripe and tendon...bean sprouts...also raw shrimp and wafer thin sliced beef that you add to your very hot soup to cook in your bowl...

It is heavenly, the hot peppers 'broke da mouth' as the locals say in pidgin talk in Hawai'i.

Tomorrow, the Pho will even be mo' bettah sitting in the pot overnight in the fridge....
Anyone else like Pho?

That's some serious pho magoo. I've eaten soup with tripe a couple of times, but never cooked with it.

Are they the metal chairs? If so, I know what they look like.

To answer the question: I love Pho.

As for the metal chairs: I, too, know what they look like. (Very comfortable except when they're in the sun and you're in shorts)

When I was a child, Campbell offered Pepper Pot Soup which was a tripe soup. Actually, I think it was called Philadelphia Pepper Pot. It was a favorite of mine. Years passed; my life was in turmoil; when it finally righted itself, I began to recall my old home with grandparents and remembered the soup-and-crackers lunches my Gram had waiting for me when I came in from school. Pepper Pot had just enough "heat" to make my nose run but plenty enough to warm me up for the walk back to school.

Do you believe that Campbell no longer makes Pepper Pot?!

I love these trips down Memory Lane.

yeah Miz G...they are squre backed with a square lattice design...a little harder to find than the shell backed ones...one is a rocker. I pulled them from the trash minutes before the truck came about 6 years ago...just got around to them...I had to wirebrush them, then use a grinder on some the deeper rust...just a slight bit of metal filler, A primer coat and two coats of two rustoleum...
they look smashing and very comfortable...

These same people tossed a cement octagon topped sculpted pedestal art deco bird bath, with frogs and lily pads with traces of its original aqua paint whih I scooped up too.
I am a curb hound...I had to see old beautiful things with life still left in them thrown out.

I could eat Pho everyday...couple good places in Philly Chinatown we go too...

that stuff rocked...you are right TG...a Philly staple...Campbells did make a pretty decent one too...my Dad and I loved that stuff, we were The only two out of a family of 7 that would eat it...that, and scrapple and head cheese.
Did you like scrapple TG?
Pepper Pot did bring on the sniffles...the Pho brings on The head sweat...we have those large Pho bowls that act like a sauna.

I always wanted to get myself one of the sand blasting outfits and the larger air compressor. My biggest problem is that I already have too many gizmos I need one big pole barn. Then, after we clean and repair all of our finds; we need places to store it all! Next they will feature us on American Hoarders!

Actually, the last three days, we have taken whole pickup truck loads up to the transfer station. So far I have spent $110 on just throwing out some of our 'finds'! That might be more money than we spent for them in the first place? One of the problems, when a hoarder goes to the garbage dump (transfer station); we still want to bring back more! I tried to talk the out of an old brass spittoon today and I don't even chew!

Hey, fish, Mrs. fish saw the knee brace and said, "Okay, now that your knee's fixed, let's get back to that list!" lol Didn't you tell her "Doctor's orders?"

I l-o-v-e scrapple, magoo. To all those people who give it an "ewww", you would eat it if you didn't know what it was. Properly cooked, it's a grand accompaniment to eggs, pancakes, home fries, or just on plate all by its own self.

That "Doctor's Orders" isn't working too good recently! Perhaps I should try Specialist Orders!

I never got into tripe. I do love scrapple, head cheese, souse, snapping turtle, frog's legs, rattlesnake meat, sucker eggs, and a few others. Of course now rattlesnakes are protected!

I'm thankful that I can still find Memory Lane, but now I need a GPS to get there.

I remember those Campbell's soup lunches. I wasn't in love with the pepper pot back then, but it was in the rotation. The soup was served with crackers or buttered bread when I was very hungry. I'm glad no one told me there was tripe in it, or that tripe was cow's stomach.

When Campbell discontinued pepper pot, Bookbinder picked it up again, but they use cod and not tripe. What the heck is up with that? If you want real pepper pot soup, you can still find it in Port Richmond. That's a little out of the way for me.

A while back--that's somewhere between 3 and 15 years--I went to a bar/restaurant on Rt. 72 in New Jersey, Mayo's Halfway House. There was a sign on the wall which told me that they'd been making, serving snapper soup since 1938. I ordered the soup. While it was obviously home/house made, it wasn't very good.
