My daughter and her boyfriend are considering a move from Colorado to North Carolina. She has 5 years teaching experience as a secondary chemistry teacher and she has a masters in education. Her boyfriend has a masters in education, but no experience. He is a math instructor. Where in North Carolina would they most likely be able to find work? They are hoping to make the move this coming summer (2010). Thanks!

I think it's pretty impossible to say where they're "likely to find work", since it is totally dependent on which school systems are hiring at the time they apply. There were lots of cutbacks this past year in NC. Math and science teachers are usually in demand almost everywhere, though, right? They should check the websites for the various school systems and start asking around. There is a teachers' union, the NCAE, that would probably have their ear to the ground for where openings are likely, if they are certain they want to move to NC.

Exactly what Francois said...

Search here https://schooljobs.dpi.state.nc.us/hrms/HRMSHome.Nsf/VacantPosition?openform (broken link)

and also Teaching Jobs US, Education Jobs, Special Education Teacher Jobs

for NC positions.

They may not have a lot to choose from...NC also is COUNTY based meaning the entire county is the ISD. Not sure what the chances are both would have a job in the same county.

BEST OF LUCK!
