I am planning to move to North Carolina this summer, whether I get a teaching job beforehand or not- but at this stage in the game I can afford to be a little picky.

I would ideally like to be in a college town, something progressive but not too large. I've never been to NC, but I have heard so many great things and it seems like an ideal place to relocate to.

Does anyone have any recommendations for where I should be looking? I'm planning to attend a couple of teacher fairs in April, but I'd like to narrow my search before then. If you by some stroke of luck happen to know anything about specific school systems to either recommend or avoid, I would welcome that information as well.

Thanks for your help!

Look at Davidson, NC. This is a BEAUTIFUL little college town north of Charlotte, but still in the same county. Schools there are excellent too. Contact Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools to find out more info on applying for jobs

I would also check into Wake County Schools in Raleigh, or Chapel Hill schools. www.wcpss.net or search for Chapel Hill- Carrobbo schools. There are fairs coming up and if you check the district sites, you shouldnt have a problem getting your questions answered.

Look into the Johnston county school system. Johnston county borders Wake county which is where Raleigh is and also where N.C.State University is. Johnston county has excellent schools. Depending on where you teach in Johnston county you would be 20-45 minutes from Raleigh.
