I've heard that pet shops (where you actually sell dogs/cats) are against the law in NC. Now that I think about it, I can't remember ever seeing any in traditional pet stores unless they were being presented by a shelter.

Does anyone know if this is true or not?

When did this go into effect? Unfortunately, my sister and I went in one in Greensboro last year. If they are illegal now, thank God!

I've not heard of any such law.
Doesn't Petland sell dogs and cats?

Pet shops are legal, there's one in Cary. I think the Pet Shop business has faded a bit from puppy mill accusations.

I haven't seen any in a long time. But there are still out there.
Only educating people about the mutts and pb dogs coming from mills and the info that the pet store provides may not be correct information will stop this horrible trade business. Plus why pay 1200 for a maltipoo? A mutt that you can get for 50-150 at a shelter. Purebred maltese and poodles cost less than 1200 from a reputable breeder.
