I filed in early Feb and got mine about two weeks ago, just an FYI on Timeline, it was about an 8 week turnaround.

The normal assumption is as you get closer to April 15th the longer you'd have to wait; however, since (at least according to the news) ppl were anxious to get their tax refunds, this may not be true this year.

I filed in early April and have not gotten my refund yet. And that's a shame, because I really could use that $600! I hope it comes soon...

So, if NC can hold my money to make more interest, I think I might just hold money they say I owe them in order to make a little more interest. I think I'll hold it, say, for 30 years. Ohhhh yeah. That would be tax evasion. My bad.

From what I heard they have until the end of May to send them out -- then they have to pay interest on it. So its possible we won't get anything back till then.

Yeah- 6 to 8 weeks is what the DOR is telling people. When you call, they'll feed you some CRAP about more people filing this year than have filed in the past. But, the long and short of it is, the state has to tap other reserves to pay out refunds this year, due to a huge budget defecit. Glad we put someone who's a little fiscally conservative in the Governors mansion- I'd hate to think they're pissing away pur hard eaned dollars! (Caution: Please do not slip in the pool of sarcasm I have left on the floor)

Yeah I guess what's happened is they are waiting to be paid before they pay us back. Sounds crazy. Other years it has been so quick.

If you visit the NCDOR site there is a statement posted that basically says they are out of money. It goes further to say that as revenues come in they are given weekly allotments to issue refunds.

We are waiting too. ARGH!

I am waiting.. Never plan on the money, so not too worried, I know I will get it soon. As connection says they have till the end of May. You can also go onto their website to get a predicted date. The only way you can really avoid this is by paying less and then possibly paying versus getting a refund. Not always easy to do while planning for deductions, etc. I am patient, I know things are rough right now, sales taxes are way down, more unemployments benefits being paid out, this is not a typical year.

Thanks for the responses. I was curious after having a conversation with a friend, as between the two of us we didn't know anyone who's gotten their refund yet. We usually owe a small amount but ended up with a refund this year. Time to tweak those exemptions again.
