Hi, we currently live in NE PA Bloomsburg to be exact. the area is very rural with more farms than housing developments. our home is on 3 acres nearest neighbor is 1000 yards down the road. Bigger towns and businesses are 10-15 miles in either direction. is there a similar area in N Carolina or S Carolina that we should be looking at? The wife and I both like to hunt and fish which we can do basically out our back door. I work in an New car dealer parts and service, been doing this for 30 years, wife works in medical/hospital revenue dept for 30 years, what are the job prospects like?
all input will be appreciated.

Bob, the current unemployment rates are high here in NC, just like much of the nation. But healthcare jobs seem to be one of the best kinds to be looking for, so your wife may do okay. One area I'd highly recommend would be Surry County, near the Virginia border. Your wife could check for jobs in Mt. Airy or nearer to Winston Salem (which is a lot larger so you'd probably have more luck too). Best of luck to you, NC can be a very nice place to live
Check out Bahama which would be about a 25 minute commute to Duke. Or parts or Orange/Alamance County (the outskirts of Hillsborough, Efland, Mebane), which would be convenient to Duke or UNC hospitals. All are rural, yet still close to town and some of the best hospitals in the world!
The most rural areas of the state are located in the Mountain and Coastal Plain regions. However, like the majority of NC's population, most employments opportunties are located in the Piedmont region.
Pamlico County, far east part of state on the Neuse river should fit the bill. Very rural, LOTS of hunting and fishing and 20 miles give or take to a town large enough to find jobs. (New Bern or Havelock)
