Summer is coming, take a vacation trip to the NC coast (just don't call it "the shore", LOL) and check places out in person!
Wilmington and Greenville are the largest places near the beach, but as I'm sure you know from looking at a map, NC doesn't really have any 'cities' near the beach. You may want to look to the north or the south for that (Virginia Beach, VA or Myrtle Beach, SC)
