You are missing the point. Its not about what is allowed, its about the fact that conservatives universally embrace the concept that less government is better, and that the government closest to the people in question is best suited to rule. Therefore, HB2 makes hypocrites out of the conservative majority in the NC General Assembly and the governor. And we all know your feelings on hypocrites.

Wouldn't that likewise make hypocrites of the liberals that universally embrace bigger government who are now protesting it?

Regardless, I'm not convinced that Charlotte mandating that businesses eliminate separation of genders in showers and lockers (see Section 3) is what anyone would call limited government. Are you?

Again, you're missing the point. If one believes in the principal smaller government, and the principal that the best government is the one closest to the people being governed, then increasing the scope and reach of state government over city government should be anathema. To support such is inconsistent and is hypocritical.

It actually isn't. If the state government acts to decrease government control, without increasing its own powers, then it's a win for limited government. HB2 did just that.

The state gained no more control over individuals or businesses than it had before HB2, but limited city and county reach. Remember, it only governs how government facilities can be used, not private ones as Ordinance 7056 did

The state is exerting more influence over local government. Its an increase in government, from a political philosophy point of view. The State is taking away the right of the city to govern itself. That's an expansion of government powers. Something that is not favored by (hypocritical) conservatives.

No, it's limiting the city's ability to exert influence on people, while not increasing its own, thereby diminishing total government control of the individual

In other words, the people, patrons and businesses of Charlotte have more personal freedom under HB2 than they had under Ordinance 7059

We'll have to agree to disagree. But just know that every time you come on here to yap about hypocrites, I'm going to remind you that Berger, Moore, McCrory, etc. are also the same.

They are definitely hypocrites, but not on this particular issue

Even before HB2 was even thought of, the state was still screwing with certain cities and counties, such as Trudy Wade introducing the bill to redistrict the Greensboro City Council when she didn't get her way back when she was on the council. Then you got Chad Barefoot's attempt at redistricting Wake County after the GOP was swept from Wake's Board of Commissioners. The fight over Charlotte's airport and Asheville's water. And finally (unless I missed something), the state preventing Wilson from expanding it's Greenlight service after Time Warner complained.

No way in hell I am ever voting for another north Carolina republican. I agree with the article wholeheartedly.
