Which one has better nightlife? Where is there more to do? I am a 23 year old looking to move to a place where there is a lot to do, a lot of young people, and a fun downtown area. Thanks!

I think it depends on what your scene is Raleigh has a more college-like feel. Charlotte is good for young professionals, hip hop, jazz clubs. I had fun in Wilmington years ago for a friend's bachelorette party. Wilmington had a good mix of clubs for being much smaller than Raleigh or Charlotte. We went to garage band spot, hip hop spot, stand around bar, and a jazz lounge on the same night! It reminds me of the eccecticism you'd see in an area like Greensboro as far as the variety of nightlife things to do.

Another vote for Charlotte. It is almost twice the size of Raleigh and 8 times the size of Wilmington. Naturally it will have more things to do.

Charlotte and Wilmington have the best downtowns of any cities in NC...

They are much different though....completely different. I would stay over a Saturday night in each place and see which one you like.

Of those three options Raleigh. Though, one could argue Asheville might have the best nightlife in the state.

For your criteria, Charlotte, by a mile. But all 3 have pros and cons.

Lol yea ok man. It all depends on your " definition" of night life honestly. It all ties into race, cluture, and the fact that your not a boreing person. A typical outing for me in Charlotte with my boys is leaving at 10 and not getting back till 5 in the morning. To me Charlotte has a larger gay scene compared to the other metros. So nightlife wise I love it. Even my straight friends have a blast with me and was like ok man Charlotte is fun as hell.

I like Wilmington's downtown the best of the 3, it is more unique annd on a river. and a ton of young people especially during beach season.

As stated already, the night life question has a lot to do with race and/or culture. Charlotte's night life is extremely hip hop club oriented. There are other options in town, but hip hop seems to dominate the scene in Charlotte. It says a lot when a city has 3 different radio stations that are dominated by hip hop music.
