In addition to Georgia, North Carolina is being considered of Mercedes Benz USA corporate headquarters. Several North Carolina cities are under consideration. But so far Georgia is top choice

McCrory needs to pull all stops to make this happen, I haven't had chance to read up on it but hope it includes a plant if so this would best thing to happen to NC. This state has the land, ideal highway and rail infrastructure.

I wouldn't mind splitting it Charlotte/Triad like we did with the Triangle and the MetLife deal.

In Charlotte, we have the new Multi-modal facility at the airport, direct flights to Munich & Frankfurt, Diamler already has a presence in 3 Metrolina towns (Gastonia, Mount Holly, Fort Mill) and we have lots of different office spaces. Several high profile speculative uptown offices being built, speculative Ballantyne, University, Airport/Tyvola area, speculative in South Park. Mecklenburg and Charlotte both also can sweeten any state incentives package and our developers here would throw a huge bone to any high profile tenant.

(I'm not saying Greensboro doesn't have it's advantages. I only know ours)

This would be big for any city who gets it.

Diamler also has a presence in the Triad with its Thomas Built Buses manufacturing plants and headquarters in High Point. The headquarters for Volvo Trucks of North America and Mack Trucks are located in Greensboro as well so there is a small cluster of automotive headquarters in the Triad. With reports saying several cities in NC are being considered, I would assume sites in all three of NC's biggest metros (Charlotte, Triangle and Triad) are being considered. My fear is that we will once again lose an automaker to another southern state. If NC is selected, it would be great if Mercedes benz chose a downtown site (high-rise) for its 150,000 plus square feet headquarters as oppose to a suburban office park setting.

Hartsfield Jackson airport; the busiest airport in the world. Good luck batting against that.

You don't necessarily need the busiest airport in the world, just one that has the direct flights you need.

I'm not sure the difference in airport size is enough to matter at all... Charlotte Douglas is busier than Houston's George Bush Intercontinental airport or Boston's Logan International airport. I'm not sure why any company would pick Atlanta over Houston, Charlotte or Boston because Hartsfield is busier than George Bush, Logan or Charlotte Douglas...

Meanwhile, it's going to be all about the $$$$$$. Whoever throws the most money at them.

North Carolina threw 683 million at Boeing for their 777 plant. I can imagine they'll throw way more for Mercedes-Benz if they have to. And having a couple more flights to Lafayette Louisianna isn't going to convince them to choose ATL.

They ultimately stayed in Seattle for a whopping 7 billion.

Mercedes could be pulling Jersey strings for a billion dollars

Perusing their website, it looks like most of the jobs are corporate jobs that would be moving. Most of the engineering is in CA and MI while assembly is in AL. Would be interesting nonetheless.

Moving high-paying jobs from a higher-cost state to what will likely be lower paying jobs in a lower cost (for now) state in the US at this point is basically shuffling the chairs on the deck of the Titanic.

McRory's mouth is watering for this deal not purely for the fact that it would bring jobs to the state; but it also supports his ideology of "offer tax breaks for big companies and have the residents of NC make up the difference"

I think we all are being played. Offering a arm an a leg,for nothing. To get played like in the Boeing deal. I think Mercedes will stay in NJ. Atlanta I wouldn't bet against. We are the other woman. Making the main squeeze jealous. It's a simple as that. As a matter of fact. The other other woman.

This would be a big deal if it happened. Could you imagine how McCrory would be crowing like a giant rooster. I front of every camera he could find? I don't think I could stand it. I hope they go to Atlanta just to keep save us all from that painful experience! It would be great fir N.C. if it happens. If it dose can someone hide the cameras from Gov McCrory please
